Us midday: corn and soya up; wheat dips
Chicago (january 29, 2011) : chicago board of trade grain futures were mixed on friday, with march corn and soyabeans higher on news that a russian government body backed eliminating a 5 pct import tariff on corn, wheat, and other grains, traders said. in addition, front-month soyabeans benefited from month-end buying as buy-stops were triggered around $14.14, the traders said. resistance was pegged at $14.26.
march wheat was lower, under pressure from profit-taking and higher expected moisture levels from oncoming snow in the us plains. cbot trends at 10:30 am cst (1630 gmt) on friday:" march wheat down 12-1/4 cents at $8.34 per bushel. march corn up 3 cents at $6.53-3/4 per bushel. march soyabeans up 16 cents at $14.15-1/2 per bushel.
