Corn holds up, but most grain prices fall

  • CHICAGO, Feb. 10 (UPI) -- Corn held its own, but wheat, soybeans and oat futures fell sharply on the Chicago Board of Trade Thursday as the dollar index rose 0.75 percent.

    Corn was up 1/2 to up 3/4, soybeans were off 17 1/4 to off 18 1/4, wheat was off 23 to off 23 3/4 and oats were up 4 1/2 to up 9 1/2.

    Corn futures found support from weekly export sales that came in at 1.107 million metric tons for the current marketing year. Export sales for the week for wheat came in at 391,300 metric tons for the current marketing year, which was below expectations. Soybeans export sales for the current year came in at a low 20,800 metric tons, although sales for the next marketing year came in at 950,300 metric tons.

    Corn: Mar 6.98 1/2 up 1/2, May 7.09 1/2 up 3/4, Jly 7.13 3/4, up 1/4, Sep 6.60 up 1/4.

    Soybeans: Mar 14.33 off 18, May 14.45 1/4 off 17 3/4, Jly 14.52 off 18 1/4, Aug 14.30 off 17 1/4.

    Wheat: Mar 8.62 3/4 off 23 1/4, May 8.94 1/2 off 23 1/4, Jly 9.21 off 23 3/4, Sep 9.46 1/2 off 23.

    Oats: Mar 4.19 off 5 1/2, May 4.26 off 5, Jly 4.25 off 5 1/2, Sep 3.97 off 6 1/2.
